    I would imagine that it would be just the blow off tube needing to build up the correct amount
    of pressure to show visible signs, or that the amount of oxygen/yeast added between the two
    were differen...

    Not sure of the right answer, but I have seen where people collect the first bit of blow off
    for reuse without any solution. The oxygen uptake that you can have for the first bit is not
    going to harm ...

    I have them constantly in my keg lines, and I have no clue where they come from. I never have
    any issues with my beers, so I don't know.
