    ABOUT ME

  • I've been brewing for about 10 years - all-grain for 6. I have a 10 gal. setup with a cooler mashtun, a 15 gal. keggle for a brewpot and a dual propane burner (like this one: http://www.cajunshoppe.com/img/b014a.jpg) connected to our main propane tank (my wife gave me the burner for my birthday one year and had a plumber run a line from the main tank to the old external garage (which is now my man cave). I have always kegged my beers - I rarely ever bottle. My favorite recipes are mainly ales: American pale ales, American ambers, IPAs, browns, scottish ales and hefeweizens - I like Vienna lagers, too. I won a 1st place ribbon in the first competition I ever entered (I don't enter competitions anymore). I've been a lurker here for at least 5 years.

By the way, has anyone tried using Millennium as the bittering hop in this recipe? That's what
Kona uses - looked it up - it's a cross breed of Nugget and Columbus with an alpha acid range
    of 14-16%...

My yeast will only groove to music that stands the test of time - mainly any Rock & Roll from
the 60's and 70's. They just refuse to listen to anything else..... ESPECIALLY RAP!

Question for Denny...When you brew this nowadays, do you adjust the weight of your hops to
match the IBU's of the original recipe? Or do you just go by the ounces listed and not worry
    about hitting th...

I brewed the original recipe and it was fantastic. Now I want to brew it again but also want to
tweak the hops a bit. I bought 3 oz. of Cascade and 2 oz. of Amarillo for a 11 gallon batch.
