    ABOUT ME

  • Littleton, CO
  • Brewing,Subarus,skiing.
  • I is an enjinear
  • Joe
  • I started brewing a while ago. Papazian was the bible, the cat's meow was the only internet resource for brewers, and I made a lot of crummy beer.

I took a few years off due to marriage, life, kids, etc. Then, I started brewing again, but this time with a much better idea of where I was going and what I wanted to brew.

Now, I'm an all-grain brewer who subscribes to the KISS principle, and is fighting the urge to buy a March pump. It's a slippery slope.

I'd look for repair drawings for the make/model freezer. That will show you where the coils are
located. Once you know that, you can plan the hole placement. Personally, I think the collar
    idea is a s...

Thanks, but at that proof, I'll take a nice single-malt, or a good bourbon.

Simplify. Here's where I re-started from: pot, propane burner, late-addition extract brewing.
I made some really good beer this way.

  • Posted in thread: How cool are these bottles? on 10-24-2012 at 03:50 PM
This is my favorite bottle, although at around 2l, it's more of a growler than a bottle.
picked it up at a DuClaw brewery/restaurant in MD on a business trip, and got it home intact
    (sans beer) in my...

I routinely cold-crash for 24-48 hours under gas to carb and precipitate cold break at the same
time, then add gelatin. This is a typical result:

  • Posted in thread: No-chill brewing & cold break on 10-08-2012 at 06:52 PM
I haven't had any clarity issues with no-chill beers. I do all the things I did before I
stopped chilling my beer: whirlfloc for the last 10 minutes of the boil, ferment on the break,
    cold-crash, and ...

Thanks for the replies....I will get a CO detector for the garage.Good idea. You can also just
put the kettle outside of the garage. I've brewed in temperatures down to 10F or so outdoors.

Do you no chill in that container? what happens as the wort cools, do the sides cave in a bit?
The containers pictured do not look very flexible for the vacuum crated as the wort cools. I

Sorry. I did my bestest. :(Unfortunately, with all the holiday madness, I didn't have a good
chance to do it either yesterday, before games started, or this morning. Blame it on JKFS. All

OK, gang, I'm going to start tweaking rosters. All of JKFS' players are going back. Anybody who
dropped players to acquire players dropped by JKFS will have those transactions reversed as
    well. Neko w...
