  • Got into home brewing after being introduced to my wife's friend's husband.
    Been brewing for less than a year - jumped right into AG - never tried extract.
    Simple converted Gott 10 gallon cooler with SS braid as false bottom. Currently using borrowed Chiswick keg as brew pot.
    10 gallon aluminum pot for sparge water.

    Yooper - No and good idea!! could that be causing the poor "spitty" flow? All I'm getting is

    Hey again - OK..now its getting a bit annoying. I had thought the issue had been
    over-carbonating due to my lame attempt at burst-carbonating. A couple of de-carbonationslater

    a few minutes total while set at 20psi. Then released some of the CO2 and set at 10 psi or so.

    Thanks Pol - What i would do if was to recirculate would be to not use the ice bath for the
    initial temp drop - say from 212 to 80. After hitting 80 i would switch to the pump/ice water
    and recirculat...

    i tried using Amstel bottles once but didn't because the labels are virtually impossible to get

    Thanks Bob - that's what i figured. I guess for my delicate ales i should not use this
    technique due to the lack of ester production. With the Porter it's probably not as
