  • I am from Ljubljana in Slovenia. For those opening google maps in the next browser tab: it's south of Austria and east of Italy.
    I've started homebrewing about a a year ago and quickly got tired of doing partial mash brewing so my 5th brew was my first all grain. To those fearing the transision: don't! It's not that hard and a lot more fun!

  • A friend who is the master brewer in the best Slovenian craft brewery first introduced me to the concept of home brewing. Before that I had no idea you can even do that... :) I was hooked with the first brew I did (a mint chocolate stout- it was horrible btw)!
    I brew in the kitchen with a 10l pot normaly used for beef soup, ferment in the computer room and bottle in the bathroom, its all very high tech! :)

    +1. Check your gravity. It may well be ready to bottle now. If your SG doesn't change for 3
    consecutive days then it is ready to bottle.Thats it... Otherwise beer tools offers limited
    calculation onli...

    Porters & Stouts are great for first time brew! They can be very forgiving as the strong taste
    will normaly cover the minor screw ups...

    I'd allways go for a longer bottle conditioing. Generaly I try to have it in the bottle for at
    least 4 weeks or more (much more depending on the beer). I find that the beer mellows more
    nicely this wa...

    Never happend to me.. Were you using whole hops of are we talking the residue you get from
    pellets? Yeah I guess try using a wider blowoff tube and get a bigger carboy of brew smaller
    batches. Cleanin...
