  • I started home brewing in college while at the same time I was studying chemistry (a great tool set). During this time, I gained experience in all grain brewing, growing hops, yeast culture, building equipment, etc. After graduation, I quit brewing for a few years while I traveled. After purchasing my home, I set up shop in my garage where I continue to expand my knowledge on brewing. I also started to keg my home brew which has taken the hobby to a new level of satisfaction and efficiency.

I enjoy all styles. Currently, I am interested in brewing experiments that will yield great brew as well as confirm or deny existing brewing dogma. I encourage my fellow home brewers to experiment and post your data. Data is good. This will foster a more educated, aware, and creative brewing community.

Ok you got me. Everything I said isn't really true at all. I made it all up. It is better to
accept dogma and push out any doubts or possibility that everything is not perfectly

Old thread just got bumped...but I'll add a comment for those in similar situation. Why not

    kitchen, then add...

Everything goes out the window with lambic brewing, and I don't think anyone can give you an
absolute answer. I say go for it, leave it at room temp. I've found that it's mostly ambiguity

I would soak in a strong oxidizer. This will make compounds more water soluble. Try PBW or a
dilute bleach solution. Let the chemicals do the work. Let it soak for a long time, then hit it
    with some w...

I'd have to disagree, unless he's going to do stepped starter instead.A good reason supporting
your opinion would be nice for the OP. I've never had problems with high gravity beers using
