Good point. I'd need the malt in there to get any enzymatic activity, right? Will just skip it
and throw it in whatever next batch I make. Now at least I'll have an idea of what the next
    beer will be....

Brewed a clone of Stone's Vertical Epic 08.08.08 last weekend (well, almost). I left the 1# of
flaked oats in the fridge and didn't use them in the mash, so it was just the 2-row in the mash
    and sugar...

do you think I should sub for Simcoe?

Just came across this. Asking for this for Christmas. And if I don't get it, I'll buy it for
myself anyway. Looks like a great way to try something new, or to choose a recipe to brew when
    you can't th...

Has anyone brewed this recipe? Going to try it this weekend. I have questions that others have
regarding the hop schedule. When I use what Stone provides, the IBUs seem a little low. Was
    considering d...

I wouldn't use it as-is, however I would try to build back up a healthy colony. This could very
well take a week or more though.-Basically a teaspoon of the washed yeast from the "middle"
    layer into 2...

I have an inch or two of washed Kolsch yeast in a 2 qt jar that was washed from a batch I
brewed in April 2012. It was a lot of yeast, but it has been in in the fridge since then (over
    18 months). Thi...

    Can't hurt. It's a buck.EDIT: Actually, I probably won't use them this time around. Don't
really need them. I just always have them on the recipe. More or less to make sure I get some
    from LHBS.

Thanks, guys. Maybe I'll go with III, go less, and add midnight wheat for some color. And the
rice hulls are just to keep the mash and sparge running smoothly. I add them to most batches.
    Cheap enough...
