Carrying extra stuff down to the basement after a rainy indoor brewday. Thank god I wasn't
carrying the full fermenting bucket with my new batch of black lager. I slipped and landed flat

I was a full blown functional alcoholic for a time. For about 2 years, I was going through a
1.75l + a 750ml bottle of rum or vodka every other night. But I cut way down for my future
    SWMBO. I now onl...

Personally, I would cap one side and pressurize with air or co2 while it is submerged in a
bucket of water. Molecules are smaller and you would find more leaks. By submerging it, you

    the fittings are snug ...

I use a rigid 1" pvc for my blowoff. a 3" piece of 1" tygon attaches the PVC to the carboy. 2

You might look into commercial steam jacketed kettles. I have seen a few on Craigslist out here
in Seattle. Even heat and no external heat source. The bad thing is that even used, they can
    get pricy. ...

I drew a sample this afternoon. I think it's going to be tasty. If you have ever had Full Sail
Limited edition lager #6, "Black Bock", it is quite similar to that. The dark roast is quite
    prevalent, b...
