yeah don't use it.. pretty sure it would be technically illegal for your friend to knowingly
let you use these containers for brewing

Good point. I just never have soda bottles, and if you don't put too much in the water bottle
(< half) you should be fine.

You can use regular sugar no problem. I've heard to use 3/4 cup corn sugar or 2/3 cup of cane
