- I do extract brewing/mini mashes. Thinking about going to go all grain. I enjoy brewing with the set-up I have, but I'd like to play with the process a little more. I like the looks of Deathbrewer's stove-top brewing method, so I'm working toward that.rnUPDATE 05/26/10 -- I've moved on to BIAB using Deathbrewer's stove-top method. It's going well. I have the parts to make a mash tun. Just need to take the time to do it and start using it. Baby steps.rnUPDATE 07/07/10 -- Been brewing half batches, so the BIAB has been working very nicely. I have everything I need to make my mashtun; I just need to get busy and build it.rnUPDATE 02/27/11 -- Built the mash tun, and it works great!rnUPDATE 11/30/11 -- Pretty comfortable with all grain brewing now. I still do a BIAB once in a while. Trying to branch out a little from so many IPA's. (Can't help it; it's where my heart is!)
- Still have to brew a Falconer's Flight IPA. Will be brewing a Guinness clone first.
- nothin'
- Don't use one.
- Amarillo Aler, California common, Multigrain Red, Stout
- Nothing yet. I've got the kegs, but that's all. Will start investing in the rest of the setup soon.

Simcoe is a great dry hop. Check out the Surly Furious kit from Northern Brewer. TONS of Simcoe
during boil and dry hop!Posted in thread: Carafoam/Melanoiden Malt Replacement on 04-21-2013 at 11:46 AM
They don't have carapils?? Carapils IS a Briess grain. I guess some wheat would sub.I had a
recipe that called for Victory and was told to use the melanoiden. Subbed real nice.Posted in thread: Riwaka hops ANYWHERE?? on 04-21-2013 at 01:55 AM
I have been looking for some time now for Riwaka hops. Used to be Falconer's Flight or Simcoe
were the tough ones to get. Now it seems Riwaka is the elusive hop. Help!Posted in thread: Grain mill experience questions on 04-03-2013 at 08:59 PM
This will be my last major investment into home brew fellas....the wife even says so.:(Where
there's a will, there's a way. :)Oh ya, I have a barley crusher. Love it!Posted in thread: Need Help Reducing The hops In An IPA on 04-03-2013 at 08:50 PM
I was thinking along the lines of option number 2.When comparing it to another IPA, remember
that the hop schedule and AA's of the hops used could be quite different. But I think option
number 2 would...Posted in thread: Opps, I pitched the WRONG yeast on 03-24-2013 at 07:00 PM
Unless you're planning on entering them into a brew competition, I'd not sweat it (and quickly
drink all evidence of your mistake). There's your answer. :)Posted in thread: Ordered 6 gal better bottles for secondary when I meant to get 5 gal on 03-24-2013 at 06:47 PM
You should be fine. The 5 gal bottles would have been better, but you already know that. If you
are concerned, do your "blast" of CO2 BEFORE you rack. The CO2 is heavier than the air in the
bottles. W...Posted in thread: Nanobrewery..Road to failure on 03-23-2013 at 05:30 PM
Bowing down to these ridiculous laws is tantamount to endorsing them. Brew away and sell
whatever you want just be careful about to whom and whatever fine you have to pay will

Cooler is better for IPA fermentation. But you're talking about bottles; do you mean
carbonation temps?Posted in thread: Victory grains. on 02-12-2013 at 09:40 PM
+1phishkid, your beer is fine. Don't rush it. If you really, really feel the need to cold crash
it, at least give it 3 weeks before you do that. Make sure it's done fermenting first. But
really, there...
