- I got into homebrewing because my girlfriend got me a basic kit from our awesome homebrew shop for valentines day. Bottling bucket/fermenter, hydrometer, racking cane, a kit/extract belgian white beer, and some other odds and ends. Well she was told that was everything i needed to make beer...but once i started researching it and researching it....and researching it some more, i told her (A) i wanted to brew outside, (B) i wanted to ferment in a carboy (C) i wanted to be able to control the fermentation temp. Wow was she pissed..."i was told that was everything u needed to make beer!!" I said that is true, but i want to make "good" beer. I have been brewing pretty solid since and i have recruited a few other buddies into the "obsession". We are doing all grain batches in keggles. And my maple baltic porter took second place at the Chico homebrew competition a few weeks ago...so yeah you could say im completely obsessed with brewing now...got a chest freezer coming tomorrow...its
