OK so this Paulaner Hefe that I made has been in bottles for two weeks now. I tried one last
night and it tasted weird. I can't tell if its bad or just different. It smells like bananas
but has no ban...

That's the exact place mine cracked. Is there a way to avoid that? My LHBS wouldn't replace it
for free.I was, however, able to melt the crack back together with a lighter. Still good

With a starting gravity of 1.048 you may be looking at another problem. What was the temp.
during fermentation? Was it consistent. I have had an ale yeast quit fermenting too early
