  • Started homebrewing in Jan '08 after getting a beginner's kit from SWMBO for Christmas. First brew was a Kolsch that turned out dark and hoppy like an IPA due to high alkalinity of my well water. Got sick of bottling after the third batch and got a keg system for my fourth. After about a year, started all-grain brewing. I now have fermentation temp control, and will be trying out lagers soon.

You can probably find "cad"plated strut, but it can have the same concerns potentially health
wise. What health concerns? Are you welding it?

Anyone here get a gravity reading on the wort from Kane. The sheet says it's 1.068, but one of
the guys in my club got 1.055. I'm wondering (but doubt) if there could have been some

out a packet of hops for dry hopping. I think they were all different. I got Triskel, a French

I transport my carboys in milk crates. No problems for years. What about when you wash them out?
Don't you have to take them out of the crates?

I'm kind of curious if this would be any safer than a glass carboy in the case of breakage? The
advantage of being able to reach into it to clean it doesn't change the fact that you'd still
    have to pi...

DuClaw makes "Sweet Baby Jesus" chocolate peanut butter porter. The peanut part tastes very
artificial to me, not sure how they add it. The base beer itself also doesn't really work for
    me. Overall it...

My 8-gallon pot still has a black residue from the first time I used my SQ14 burner. The smoke
smelled terrible and I eventually took the pot off to allow the paint to burn away so it
    wouldn't stain u...
