  • My wife and son watched a 'How's its made' TV show and thought it was something that I might like. They tivo'd the show for me and I finally got around to watching it a few weeks later. I quickly found this forum, did a bunch a research and brewed my first extract in Jan, 2009. The beer sucked but it didn't stop me from wanting to brew more. Now, its a hobby that I thoroughly enjoy. Every batch since the first one has been great, with each one getting better. Its a great hobby to have - little bit of science and sort of challenging to understand everything and make a variety of great brews.

I use the big orange 10 gal cooler and have made many awesome beers with it. But if I had to do
it over again, I would go with something that has more capacity. In fact I have been looking at

You already have a solution for crushing your grain so perhaps you have other higher priority
things to get? I bought one and its nice to have but not a big benefit as my LHBS would crush
    just fine.

maybe you bottled too soon and it wasn't done fermenting all the way?

I've done it many times, no worries. Any contaminants that might happen to get in are killed
with the boil. However, the wort stays hot overnight so no need to worry.
