  • My wife and son watched a 'How's its made' TV show and thought it was something that I might like. They tivo'd the show for me and I finally got around to watching it a few weeks later. I quickly found this forum, did a bunch a research and brewed my first extract in Jan, 2009. The beer sucked but it didn't stop me from wanting to brew more. Now, its a hobby that I thoroughly enjoy. Every batch since the first one has been great, with each one getting better. Its a great hobby to have - little bit of science and sort of challenging to understand everything and make a variety of great brews.

I went to start a Zombie Dust clone earlier tonight. I put in about 75% of my grain in my
barley crusher hopper. Before I could react, the hopper came apart from the crusher and all my
    grain fell onto...

Just plugged this into Brewers Friend and the IBU calculation is crazy at over 200 IBUs vs. the
original recipe calc. of 90-95. Any idea why the BF calc is so different? As soon as I plug in

Nice, thanks for posting. I just got back from a week in the Bay area and there was no Pliny to
be found anywhere. Now, I'll just brew some of my own.

Three Floyds but also a big fan of Allagash in Maine. The Smuttynose Big Beer series is awesome
    as well.

Another option is to make a spice potion. Simply get a jar, add a cup of vodka, put in peels
and crushed coriander, tighten the lid and let it sit until bottle / keg time.I did this on my
    last witbier...

God is great, beer is good and people are crazy....
