Thanks for your input Kevin. Having found RIMS for Dummies, I believe I'm going to go electric.

Yes, I've seen your system, kladue - I guess I didn't put it together in my head that that's
exactly what you're doing. My primary goal is to maintain mash temps very accurately. With an
    insulated MLT...

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but has anybody experimented with a steam powered
RIMS tube? I saw that Yuri_Rage was mixing steam with water or wort stream to raise

I installed my thermowell low in the cooler, and my probe extends about 4" into the mash. Doing
10 gallon batches also. In the past, I had checked the temp of the Mash at the end of the 60

What you guys are describing is basically my setup: One burner under BK, cooler MLT, and cooler
HLT to briefly hold sparge water while collecting first runnings in BK. I'm thinking about
    adding a HERM...

I have the same kettle. Use it for a large MLT for a brew club! saw that. So what did you pay?
    Better than $30? :p

Anyone have experience getting steam hooked up to one of these?

I doubt they would be very difficult for anyone used to working with metal, like a body shop
person, or machinist. The issue is that the kettle appears to be mild steel lined with
    stainless. I'm not s...

Make a RIMS or HERMS out of a 15gal container and pump it in and out. Would make a great huge
MLT.Not sure I follow what you mean here. Pump hot water in and out of the jacket?
