Greg -- I started to have a similar problem with my SS braid and fixed it by inserting a piece
of high temp vinyl tubing inside the braid. It definitely doesn't float anymore, either. There
    is a pictu...

By all (many?) accounts, the SS braid is the best for batch sparging. So unless you prefer to
fly sparge, you might want to reconsider purchasing a false bottom. Besides, if you ever change
    your mind ...

I have been mashing in my 48qt rectangular cooler for a while now, but was wondering if there
are any benefits to the round ones. It has worked for me so far with batch sparging and running
    about 65-7...

  • Posted in thread: 3rd AG today...I went backwards on 05-29-2007 at 02:50 AM
Man, I think I was getting a little too confident in my abilities. My first AG batch went
pretty well, considering it was the first time. My 2nd batch was almost flawless. This time,

Does the bazooka T do a good job at filtering out the hops & hot break? I've never used one
before as I normally pour my 5.5 gallons through a strainer into a plastic bucket. This time
    I'll be using t...

Put me in the Maris Otter camp.I recently brewed an IPA with Golden Promise, which is still
conditioning, but from what I sampled...WOW. The early returns are encouraging.

I'm 99% positive that's just yeast in your picture. I wouldn't be worried at all. I've seen
that with every brew I've done.

I was actually thinking of going from my immersion chiller to a CFC, and using my current IC as
a pre-chiller. The only reason I'm holding back is because of concerns about cleaning and
    sanitizing the...

So what's the minimum size for a 5 gallon batch? I'll be picking up a turkey fryer soon and
most have 30 quart pots. Any problems with aluminum? As for the thermometer, are the electronic

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline - it helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. Frank Zappa
