  • Bought a Coopers brewing kit in December 2010 and brewed my first beer between Christmas and New Years. Fast forward four months and I have 7 fermenters and 12 corny kegs and a new chest freezer with temp controller. I've brewed ~25 (extract) batches in that four months.

I can't see myself doing any kind of lambic. The idea of going for a good tasting wild strain
of yeast and hoping for the best seems like too much of a chance with the dollars. The much
    maligned Light ...

From what I've read here one would expect the extract to be darker. How do they taste?Virtually
identical to my tastebuds at this point. It's a really hoppy and bitter beer and the hops

Just an update - I kegged the beer from that brewing day today -- about four weeks after
brewing. There was a significant difference in the color between the extract and the all grain

I swap my tanks in Coffeyville, Kansas at the Airgas shop. Last time I did so, it was $21 for a
20 lb tank and $13 for a 5 lb tank. Needless to say, I prefer to use my 20 lb tanks.

I for one would like to hear what you have to say about a direct comparison between those 2
batches. Please do...I have a pretty good pipeline going so it may be a few months before I get
    to either th...

Yeah this bastard goes gang busters on the airlock no doubt! I didn't have a blowout with this
one. However it was a hard fermentation.I've brewed seven of these so far, six extract and an

Just a curiosity - why does the link in the first post in this thread point to a
page if the two are not affiliated (as the the second post insinuates.

You don't get another merit badge for doing AG. If time is an issue and you make great beer
with extract, why change? AG is not a magic fix if you're making average extract beer. You seem
    to know brew...

My bad. Late night and read it wrong. Sorry.I is -literally- a Gott cooler that I found on the
side of the road. Pulled the car over and ran down into the ditch to get it. Until my BIAB
