I've seen the threaded CL version and people stretching silicone tubing over it with success
(or even filing down the threads and doing this). BrewHardware has a pretty nice fix for this:

I understand CL's can also be considered QD's, but the more typical QD's I think of are: it's
camlock equivalent... are easy to use and work well, but you could argue the camlocks might
not be one-h...

When I mentioned whirlpool above, it was for the sole purpose of moving wort past the coils,
not necessarily for moving/removing the trub. This I usually get rid of right after
fermentation completes ...

I've been using a 25' 3/8" copper immersion chiller for a couple years now with varying results
and was looking to get any feedback/input from people who have had great success with them.
