    If there were bubbles on top then likely it wasn't mold and likely natural yeast.

    I started with a round cooler and false bottom. In total it cost me about $65 (put the mash run
    cooler together myself). I batch sparge and am pretty happy with the results. You could also go
    BIAB.

    I'm using 3724 right now. No starter and within 10 hours had a nice krausen formed. I'm going
    to ramp the temp up to 90 over the next few days and let it sit for 2-3 weeks.
