    ABOUT ME

  • So Cal
  • Since I'm new here, figured I'd put some bona fides in here. Brewing alomost 10 years, have built several systems (including 1 barrel HERMS for brewclub), kegerators, etc. Almost always tinkering with something brew related.

With Drew Beechum, successfully produced the first homebrewed Brut beers (like Deus Brut de Bosteels, Malheur Brut Noir, etc). See http://www.maltosefalcons.com/tech/methode-champenoise-beer for more info. Drew wrote about the process in Zymurgy, and we presented a seminar on the subject at the 2009 AHA NHC in Berkley. I also presented a seminar on brew-related tinkering called "The Equipment Geek".

Created the "Slots o' Hops" homebrew slot machine - a scratch built slot that pays off in Homebrew (if you're lucky!), Falcons' portable oak bar that has served as the Hospitality Suite bar at the Vegas, Denver and Oakland NHCs, etc.

  • Started brewing in January, 2001, and joined the Maltose Falcons at the same time. Kegged my second batch, went AG on the third, and I only waited that long because I thought I owed it to the LHBS owner to buy a couple of his ingredient kits! I've brewed most of the styles, but most of my beers tend to be either IPAs of some kind or Belgian somethings. I've had 2 beers score 40 (American Brown) and 44 (Trippel) in the NHC first round, but not advance!
  • BFHR Red, APA
  • RIS, Saison d'Hiver
  • Brut du Faucon, Brut du Faucon Noir, Brut du Marriage, Brut du Beaucoup d'Houblon, Brut Rougish Brune, Brut Sex
  • Doppelbock, Saison Ete, Racer Clone, Sour Wheat
  • Male
  • Divorced

The pilot gas tubing is normally aluminum, not copper, and very soft, which enables it to be
threaded through furnaces, etc, without cracking. Of course, people have used copper
    successfully. The fitt...

Julian Shrago is well known for his brews. His IPA won the "best brew" by attendee votes at the
2009 NHC in Oakland. I haven't been down to Beachwood yet, but will definitely go the next time

absolutely fantastic.Yes, I had the WAHA sours, quite good.

That is exactly what happened with QUAFF and Saint Paul. Jamil submitted his beers as a QUAFF
member even though he lives in the bay area (well--more like Sacramento), and Gordon Strong

BTW I cannot get over the fact that QUAFF showed up with 135 kegs to club night. That is just
sick.Yeah, but how many of them went home full? They only had 14 taps at Club Night, IIRC, and
    I was one o...

[QUOTE=remilard;3019196]I seriously doubt the BN had anywhere near a hundred entrants. They

(snippage) Who cares if they are a huge club? They had the most points, so they win.Of course
that would be true, IF they were a Club, but they definitely are NOT.I had to leave the Banquet

This was an incomplete thought. Those that were there will get the point. was funny!

I know it's probably too late for the OP, but for anybody else checking this thread, Naja's in
Redondo Beach has about 80 taps, always has LOTS of beers you'll have trouble finding anywhere
    else in So...
