I only removed from headspace. I am brewing a porter and my pitch temp was around 68-70 and my
fermentation temp has been between 70-72. It just seems to be a very active fermentation. Btw

Thanks..I did not think it would matter that much since fermentation had not begun yet. Just
curious as my readings were slightly higher than the recipes reading range.

I have a bad habit of forgetting to take an initial gravity reading prior to pitching my yeast.
Is this a problem or am I actually taking this reading at the appropriate time?

My first batch was brewed at a friends house and moved about 30 miles by car and I have had
nothing but compliments on the quality of that beer.
