Could be the post o ring being too small. Pin locks use a slightly bigger o rings on the post
than ball locks. There is a thread or 2 on hbt about it.

temperature control is the biggest improvement you can make. without it these other steps might

10 points off and only being 3 gallons. I would taste the fully fermented sample. If it is
close to being drinkable I would bottle them up. Carbonation adds character and body too so
don't be to hard ...

Time does wonders and can help mellow out the booze. Warming it up can't hurt at this stage.
Adding more fermentables to an already boozy beer does not sound like a good idea. I would
leave it in prim...
