I attached it to the nut that's underneath the black plastic piece. That's actually the outside

I'm using beersmith but I can't seem to get my projected FG below 1.012.Ignore BeerSmith's

Exactly. The controller turns the fridge on and off as needed and the thermostat in the fridge
is set to the coldest setting.
