Sorry, that was the wrong use of terminology. I steep the grains for 30 minutes at 160*-165*.

I've been making extract brews and I seem to always end up with an original gravity that's up
in the 1.065 range and the colors always seem to be way too dark. I boil my grains for about 30

I got a little overzealous (I think) and may have added polyclar too early/unneccesarily.I
brewed an Apple Ale and an Oktoberfest about a week and a half ago. Today, both were at 1.020
and hadn't move...

I bought the Metedeconk Summer Brew kit from the Brewer's Apprentice. It makes 5 gallons so it
calls for 2.5 gallons to steep the grains and boil the wort. After 30 minutes of steeping the
