  • I bought my first kit and equipment for my 21st birthday and quickly got hooked and went all grain. Considering periods of inactivity, I am up to 100 (5 gal) batches as of 04/2014. I wanted to get into brewing out of curiosity as I had been exposed to home wine and beer brewing through my family. My aunt has been making wine, and some beer, as long as I can remember and my grandparents (German-American) made homemade hooch off and on since Prohibition. I have also started making wine to keep the peace at home.

    1.088-1.089 - close; but you have to keep in mind that efficiency tends to go down as you push
    gravity for a given volume. You can only get so much sugar into solution in a given volume of
