    ABOUT ME

  • Brewing Beer,and Playing Hockey
  • In the brewing world I guess I would say Im pretty new to all of this. I started brewing beer about a year ago (October 16, 2010) and I knew from the first brew day that this was one of my passions. In the first year I was able to get 9 brews under my belt and brewed all different types of styles. So far I have made, a Porter, Bock, wheat beer, magic hat # 9 Clone, a pale ale, and this October my first pumpkin beer, which has been one of my best. Currently Im still brewing with extract, but look forward to making the jump to All-Grain. The biggest and best advice I can give anyone that I learned my first year is to let your beer age for months! Makes a huge difference. I know its said so many times and again but It couldnt be any truer. Time is on your side. Bottom line home brewing is the best hobby a guy can ask for! :)
  • I wanted something light and drinkable for the summer season so I created my own American Pale Ale. Its about as simple as you can get with a recipe so Im hoping that less is more in this case.
  • Nothing yet.
  • I have just cracked open my first Belgian Triple and it is by far my BEST BEER I have ever made! I have been brewing for 4 years now and nothing compares to how this turned out. I shared some with my friends the other night and they were blown away.
  • Do not have a kegging system yet.

After racking my Belgian blond I noticed the next day that there was a red hue at the top
(about 2inches deep from the top) of the fermenter. I have never seen such a difference in
    color like this. Wh...

Krausen won't harm your beer. In a few days it will just subside anyways. No worries.

  • Posted in thread: Is This Jello in my fermenter?? on 07-07-2012 at 01:35 AM
Yeah its defiantly not trub, I guess its more like a slime. But I did taste the beer and there
is no sour taste or smell. So thats a good sign.

  • Posted in thread: Is This Jello in my fermenter?? on 07-06-2012 at 11:37 PM
So I was dry hopping my Liberty Cream Ale (by Midwest Supplies, great store) with 1 oz of Crita
hops. After a week, I opened up the lid and found this Jello-like stuff floating in the
    fermenter. I was...

The starting gravity was said to be around 74 points and when I put that in a pitch calculator
it said I needed around 250 Billion. So if I did under pitch it, is it to late to add more
    yeast?Also, is...
