Definitely make a starter, but I think you should be fine. Airplane holds tend to be unheated,
so I'm sure your yeast didn't wake up on the flight. Pressure in the bag could simply be due to
    the fact ...

He hasn't said anything to me directly, but through my supervisor, I know he keeps an eye on
it. The day he DOES say something to me is the day that I start walking out the door at 5:00 on
    the nose, w...

Gave a friend a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and after trying it said "that's lager not ale", I said
"no it's ale mate", he said "no ales aren't fizzy". He meant carbonated, just in case 'fizzy'
    isn't used...

I never sanitize my bottle caps. I just rip a hole in the bag and pull them out. When I'm done
bottling I stick the bag of caps in a ziplock so it won't spill all over and then later use the
    rest.

  • Posted in thread: Carbonation within 12 hours? on 03-07-2016 at 06:21 PM
The only thing I'd be worried about is your aeration after fermentation started. Once the yeast
get started you do *not* want to aerate your wort. It gets worse the further along fermentation
    gets, so...

  • Posted in thread: Is This Kettle Big Enough for BIAB? on 03-07-2016 at 06:16 PM
It'll be a challenge, but I'll bet you can do it. My first thought was that you won't have
enough wort after mashing to wind up with five gallons after your boil-off losses, but
    considering you'll be ...

  • Posted in thread: Official Pitched Stir Bar Count on 03-07-2016 at 05:57 PM
I've only made a starter three times, and twice I've pitched the stir bar with the yeast.I am
    not a clever man.

  • Posted in thread: HBT Musicians on 03-07-2016 at 05:53 PM
I play guitar and piano well enough to amuse myself, and loud enough to annoy those around me.
I think we've got seven guitars, acoustic and electric pianos, a violin and I just picked up a
    "boutique ...

In the inconceivable event I don't win the drawing, I'd settle for the German Pilsner all-grain
    kit.

Running out! My stocks are eternally low due to my limited time to brew, so sometimes I run dry
and have to go out and *buy* beer. Which can suck, since I live in PA which means I can't just
    hit a con...
