  • I started brewing young. In 11th grade, I was researching a paper on King Arthur, and found a website detailing the method to make mead. I was in love. Two of my friends joined in with me and we started brewing with a simple kit with 5 gallon glass carboys. When college came around, we went our separate ways, and brewing went on hiatus. Twelve years since I last brewed, in 2011, I finally have a house with a basement for brewing, and I am back in the saddle. Living in Michigan, the self-proclaimed "Great Beer State" has its advantages. With 150+ breweries in the state, and three very good brew stores within 20 miles, I am very lucky. Lift a glass with me; I am thirsty.

    1. Until you have enough gear to support a pipeline, you don't have to worry about brewing on a
weekly basis. I don't know that I could drink that quickly anyway...2. Yes, you can brew small
    1 gallon ...

I made cider from Indian Summer with absolutely no issue other than taking longer than normal
to get going. The vial of yeast was old, and I attributed it to that. It had steady tiny
    bubbles for about...

My wife is certainly NOT a beer drinker. The only one she has come close to enjoying is
Lindeman Framboise. The cloying sweet raspberry lambic did enough to "hide that beer flavor"
    she hates. I've tri...

GothamDangit, that's what I was going to suggest. That gives your wife license to roll over in
the middle of the night when the baby's crying and say "Honey, Gotham needs you" and you will

Call me ignorant, but do you use whole cones or pellets? I could do with making a hop tea and
sugar, then turning that in to a syrup to use with my Sodastream...
