Yea that's a pretty light hop bill for a 10 gallon batch. Where'd you get the recipe?

I live in Florida but you're on the right track. Check for clubs in your area. I learned a
bunch brewing with a guy from work a few years ago. I don't necessarily brew the same way he
    does, but did ma...

  • Posted in thread: Remove dryhop before moving to secondary? on 12-19-2013 at 10:40 PM
They definitely mean the LAST 7 days before bottling. Whether or not you use a secondary is
entirely up to you. If you have a spare month or two you MIGHT be able to read all the debates
    on that subje...

Sounds like maybe you just got some old, canned extract. Generally, if you use the lightest,
freshest extract you can get and use fresh steeping grains (crystal and/or roasted) for flavor
    and color yo...

Both non RO and RO had the metallic in the darker beers. How did you get the color in the
    darker recipes?

Were all your beers with the metallic taste non-RO water? Evaporation will dissipate chlorine,
but not chloramine, which is a more common disinfectant of public water supplies...

Water chemistry is exponentially more important to all grain brewing. If you even suspect your
flavor issue to be water related, I'd get that figured out before trying an all grain batch.
    It's not tha...

  • Posted in thread: Can I just buy crystal malt 75L and use it as an all-purpose crystal malt in recipes? on 12-17-2013 at 09:40 AM
You can get your color exactly by using more or less of whichever crystal you have. The flavor
on the other hand, will be different. How different depends on the recipe, but as crystal malts
    darken th...

  • Posted in thread: Fastest beer grain to glass? on 12-13-2013 at 03:19 PM
I think a point we're all missing here is that a beer is done when a beer is done; it is not
some predetermined number of days. Sure it's affected by your process and the recipe, but no
    one can say re...

do you use hearts brew supply on north edgewater drive?

through the years i have used them as well as a brew supply in daytona beach. the daytona store closed due to illness.
another opened in NSB. less customer oriented than the
former daytona store. since going A.G. I use hearts 98% of the time. these guys ARE award winning home brewers, and their grain prices are better!

FYI: if you need a CO2 bottle refilled FLORIDA CARBONIC on divison street
just off OBT is the place to go....nice folks.
