  • I started brewing in September '08. I've always wanted to brew my own beer because I wanted to create a unique experience for myself. It has been a long journey from my first brew until now. I've moved on to All-Grain brewing after brewing extract for 2 1/2 years. Hopefully during the Summer of '12 I will be doing a keezer build and moving on to kegging.

@danorocks17 - I have not used one, but our owner has. Her experience was that it worked great,
but since we were using the 120V model, it took a bit to get up to temperature, and the boil
    wasnt AS vi...

Hey Bryan, have you used one of these yet? I have a 10 gal aluminum pot i'm thinking of
upgrading with this, since i'm using propane on a turkey fryer, it would be nice to not have an
    open flame. Than...

I just purchased a refractometer a few months ago after 3 years of AG brewing. I love it. I use
my hydrometer as well for FG, and sometimes for the OG if I think the refractometer is being
    funny, but ...

The first batch of this that I made last fall tasted VERY close to Zombie Dust in a side by
side tasting. So close that I'm sure there will be a bigger difference between batches that I
    make than ther...

I like Brewtoad, although the previous version Beer Calculus was better IMO. It's free and
    pretty intuitive.

With a starter and at what ferment temp????I agree, 04 is fantastic. I didn't do a starter, as
it's a dry yeast. Fermented at about 64.

Typically I will pour off a couple ounces to clear what's in the line and drink that, then I'll
pour a small ~4 oz sample. I repeat that every few days and I've come to the conclusion that my
    beer tas...

I spoke to soon. I pulled the first two pints or so off the keg, which had a funky flavor, but
    the rest is fantastic already.

Kegged this last night (day 18). It had a fantastic smell, but I poured a little bit off the
tap just to taste it and it had an acrid/sulfur taste. Very strange, I've never had that
    before. I'm assumi...
