You can add the vanilla bean to a little bit of vodka and make a tincture, or you could do the
scrape method and boil it with a little bit of water for a very short period just to ensure its

It should carb up well, even after lagerring I have bottled without adding more yeast and that
still had yeast to go (although it was a lager yeast, so was happier cold) but that's not

MichaelBrock has it right as well as the other guys. If your looking for a big kick of
bitterness, use the high alpha hops to get the most bang for your buck. For IPA's and APA's you

I remove my labels by soaking in B-Brite. Once the label is off, it gets rinse and placed in

I always try to go 2-3weeks in the bottle if I can. Lets the flavor mellow and the carb occur.

I'll paste some references below. I believe a big part of it is that dry yeast is cheaper to
buy than to create more with a starter. Also, yeast health is apparently at it's best when
starting out dry...
