I'd go with the recipe in Mitch's book. I don't see any reason a brewer would give an incorrect
recipe, since it's the brewer's process that contributes most to the success/failure of a beer,

You're right. Using it as a hop back the hops are technically not boiled...just very hot wort
(180 F) running through the hops & chilled immediately. It will give you pretty similar results
