  • I'd wanted to get into brewing for a long time and finally made it happen in 2009. To date I've got 4 kits under my belt (2 wine and 2 beer) plus my first all-grain brew that turned out pretty well despite not having the appropriate sized gear.rnrnThe thing that made me want to get into brewing was, what has now become, the free beer project ( I remember reading about their original recipe, an open-source approach to brewing beer. Being a software developer I though the idea was brilliant and wanted to try it.rnrnI can happily say that in November of 2011 I made that happen and I was not disappointed with the results. I've made a batch of Version 1.0 "Vores l" and I hope to go through as many of the the other versions as I can so I can taste how this idea has evolved.
  • A mead (having difficulty settling on a recipe though)rnMy grandmother's blueberry wine (apparently it's got quite a kick)

After a long hiatus I took my first crack at extract brewing yesterday and this was the recipe
I decided to go with, I'm very excited to see how it turns out.I ended up making substitutions
    for all th...

Well this batch is long gone now but I forgot to relay the final lesson of my first AG batch. I
forgot to dissolve my priming sugar in water before stirring it into my beer before bottling. I
    just tos...

Give'er! If nothing else you'll create a baseline from which you can improve upon. Version 1.0
is hard, but it's well worth building...or in this case brewing :)

Between Christmas, New Years, family, a case of the flu and a few other things I never did get
around to relaying how the brew turned out.Well, it seems that it was a heroic effort after
    all. :ban: (a...

How long are you planning for your primary fermentation to last? Granted my brewing experience
is quite limited (a few Brewhouse kits, a few wine kits and one AG attempt that I'm working
    through at th...

I hate to say it but this is a bad idea. Once the snow in contact with the kettle melts away it
forms a very good insulation, keeping your wort from cooling, just the opposite of what you
    want. Puttin...

Heh - thanks folks. Glad to know I'm not a complete outlier and yes I am definitely refining
the process and things in my head. Next time (and there will be a next time) will be different.

Well, it's been a long time since I've posted last, been lurking here & there and distracted
with other real life stuff. I finally got around to taking a crack at doing my first all grain

Thanks folks,Beer is my primary concern, but wine keeps the girlfriend at bay ;) - it certainly
won't be my last batch tho, it was a good experience. Some things I'd have done differently in
