  • It all started when I was 5. yes 5. My dad was the one doing everything but I was the little helper. He lost interest and stored all the equipment. 14 years later I found it. He still had 2 kg of corn sugar, a pale ale hopped extract, and all the sanitizing chemicals so my first ever brew was 100% free.rnI have a full all grain setup with the cooler and braided line as a mash tun, 8gal pot ( a little too small) propane burner, about 10 carboys, two 20 gallon pales, one is a bottling bucket with a spigot. That all seems to serve me well.
  • ApfelweinrnBeer! Ill brew anything that looks like it'll be good.

Yea I think I've given up on this batch. I've siphoned the whole 5 gallons into the bottling
bucket with the spigot and me and my buds are going to get rid of it by the end of the weekend.

So two years ago, I made an all grain pumpkin ale and let it ferment away. I got busy and ended

My biggest lesson is (just like cooking), Less is more. At first I was adding pounds of
different malts and half pounds of others and it tasted like fermented syrup. Dont throw 5 or 6
    different grains...

Thanks Revvy!Definately happened over night when I was sleeping and there is a nice white band
of yeast at the bottom. I went ahead with the brew day and am currently at 1/2 hour left in the
    boil

In the past I have always skipped using starters with my smack packs but this batch I thought
I'd give it a go. I used 1/2 cup of extract in 800ml of water and got an OG of 1.045. 24 hours
    later, noth...

So you used the exact same grain bill on all your batches. Crushed with the exact same mill and
setting. Mashed for the exact same time. Sparged the same amount of water. The only change was
