    I would think add to the secondary then transfer. I've never done it but it sounds like it will
    incorporate and dissolve better.

    +1Everything I have ever seen says to start with cold water. (cooking and brewing). Plus, It
    sounds crazy, but the boil time is either the same or cold is faster.
