So I took the thermostat off again to check it and there was a wire disconnected. Plugged it
back in and now she's running like a champ! This was super simple and I'm not mechanically
inclined at all....

IMO, and from everything I've read, you don't want to go more than a lb in a 5 gal batch. I
don't know this for sure with molasses, but when I've added honey to my brews I dilute with
warm water first...
