  • A friend bestowed most of the basic equipment for partial boil extract ales on me before he moved. My wife bought me "The New Complete Joy of Home Brewing" and "Designing Great Beers". I bought a 6g Better Bottle and an ingredient kit and had valid beer in 6 weeks. It was over-carbed and bland, but I still couldn't help but drink it all. All but 1 liter bottle that my home brewer friend (20 years experience) made me put in his basement. He says he'll give it back to me in a year to learn what aging does.
