  • I've been a beer lover for a long time and just started extract brewing in March of 2012. After reading The Complete Joy of Homebrewing and watching a Brewing TV, I'm hooked! I've made my move into Partial/Mini mashing and will be moving to All Grain once I get some more equipment.

    I'm just taking a guess, but it is most likely intended to concentrate the fermentable sugars
    in the wort. I'm interested in hearing the answer that others have as well.
