- In 1980 my dad bicycled through 18 countries in Europe and truely learned about the world of beer. Since i was a young kid my dad has passed on his love and appreciation for good beer to me.(but also to respect alcohol, were not alcoholics, haha) Im now 21 and for christmas of 2011 my dad bought me a basic home brew kit with the 6.5 gal. carboy and the bottling bucket, capper, etc. Also recently i met a guy whos been home brewing for about a year and a half and was kind enough to show me the ropes. Since then i've brewed two beers. The first was an extract boil, a Nut Brown Ale that just came in a kit from Brewers Best and the second was also an extract and was a Smoked Porter w/yeast starter. that me and my buddy tweaked the recipe some to add more chocolate character and boost the ABV. Its in secondary ferm now but is estimated to come out around 8-9 ABV.
- I recently acquired a 10 gal pot, turkey fryer, and 10 gal cooler to use as a mash tun. So hopefully within my next two beers i will be trying my first all grain! I really like Stouts and Porters, as well as IPA's so i definatly plan on trying to brew some sort of chocolate stout, Oatmeal Porter, and a very hoppy IPA. I will be growing three varieties of hops this season also. Chinook, Willamette, and Magnums. These three varieties seem to handle well in the heat so hopefully at the end of the season ill do an IPA with fresh hops!
- nothing now

There are two that I use the most- WLP001 (S05 in dry), and believe it or not, Wyeast 1335- an

I would suggest putting more than one hizome per hill, though. That way you are pretty much
