  • My grandfather convinced me to try it several years ago. I've done it on and off over the years, but never had a good place to brew. After moving to a new place, I've been able to set up a little brewery and give this hobby the attention it deserves.

    Yeast doesn't dissolve.You can rehydrate it by mixing it with warm water, but it will not
    dissolve.

    Actually, on second thought you're right, monitoring the temp at the outlet of the HERMS coil
    is likely the best option. It *is* the temp that matters.

    I suppose theoretically you should be able to run at about .5 quarts per minute assuming 55F
    tap water coming in.That's about half the speed I'd like, but I'll typically be using warmer
    water than 55F...
