    If it is the stuff in cans it might not be as fresh as getting it from a big supplier. I second
    the 5 lbs of DME idea.

    I know people like anoldur have had success insulating with neoprene. What do you think about
    this? was concerned about the metal zipper. Is that an issue?

    I would have done the same thing. Don't think there is any point in boiling the extract longer
    than your longest hop addition.

    I would get a chest freezer with an external thermostat (like a ranco or STC-1000). You could
    do that for under $300 and fit two carboys in it.
