I went to my local hardwoods supply house and bought some rough sawn maple and had them plane
it down for me. It looks better in person than in the picture...I was going to use Oak from
Home Depot but...

I haven't taken my exam yet (March 2013), but I've been studying and have stewarded a few
competitions. I can tell you this - preparing for this exam makes you a better homebrewer. No
doubt about it.
