    ABOUT ME

  • I started extract brewing in college for fun and moved up to all grain brewing after I graduated. I did several all grain brews with some young friends and then had to move to Portland, ME for work. Being a southern boy dealing with Maine winters, I dove head first into home brewing. I firmly believe that you can learn from your mistakes and that the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked. But that's why we're all here right?

So my buddy who is a homebrewer gave me his recipe for a Watermelon Wheat that got great
reviews from his friends and family. I want to brew this beer as well but his recipe uses DME

Well I think you have convinced me! Sounds like the recipe is straight forward enough and if
you made it before and liked it, then I'm sold. I'll probably look into getting my ingredients
    together thi...

Hello all! I've been all-grain brewing for a while, but I came across my first mead at a store
recently and after having a particularly tasty experience, I have been thinking about brewing

I love hoppy beers. IPAs, Double IPAs, etc. So it sounds like a muslin bag might keep my
sediment/trub down but might not release ALL the flavors. Racking on top of the hop pellets
    might cause some ex...

My recipe calls for dry hopping the secondary fermentation. My assumption was that I just add
my 1 oz. of Centennial pellets to the secondary fermentation bucket. Rack my beer on top. Close
    it up. Wai...

Being a younger generation brewer (I'm only 24.) I googled every question that even popped into
my head. 9 times out of 10 I was sent here and not only got answers but I got a range of

I'll stick with stirring it into the water then. The foam was going everywhere before I could
get the water volume up to 2.5 gallons. What brew activities does everyone having going on this

Where in Mass? I'm not originally from New England. I was born and raised in SC and have only
lived in Maine for 1.5 years. I had a good friend in Boston who helped me get started with

Wow! Thanks for the feedback! I've got another question for you though. When I'm mixing up my
StarSan, I fill a bucket up with 2.5 gallons and add 1 TBSP of the StarSan. Then I use my big
    metal spoon ...
