BDB, I don't have a kal clone, instead using a norcal false bottom and/or SS braid with Concord
pots. How long do you mash? I tried doing 0.045" and was only able to get around 80% conversion
    efficien...

I have a Kal clone and follow his steps. I have my mill at .045" and have 90+ efficiencyEdit:I
just realized this thread is about conditioning malt before milling. This is something I do not
    do.

Are you recirculating the mash? I once had a concern about sealing the false bottom with a
silicon gasket. I recirculate and don't have an issue without a gasket

It's definitely bags of mixed grain. I buy my base grains in bulk and I'm not sure if this
grain is for a 5lbs batch including base grain or if this is specialty grain for a 10 gal
    batch.

A few years ago I moved across country and put everything in storage. Finally got everything
out and found (3)-one gallon bags of crushed grain. I must have been getting ready to brew
    before I moved. ...

Yes. Those two metals don't play nice with each other.

I'm very disappointed how this thread ended. That being said, I own two Chugger pumps and love
    them.

Ideally I would sell my plate chiller, and buy a cfc.Free float the hops, recirculate the
chilling through the pump, cfc, and then back to the kettle for a whirlpool. Let settle, then
    drain to ferment...
