Also keep in mind I obviously tried to get it to seal multiple times with the first disconnect

Perhaps when installing the new disconnect it moved and made a better deal with post o-ring? Do
you use keg lube on your seals? If not I'd try that with the old disconnect and I'd imagine it

Poppets don't seal disconnects to posts, that's entirely managed by the post
