  • I got a Mr. Beer for Christmas in 2009, and fell in love with it. I went and bought another, then added a full 5 gallon setup. I am now brewing both ways regularly, and having great fun doing it. I'm learning as I go, and want to try different ways.

I Now have propane burner with an 8 gal pot, wort chiller, 2 L starter, 5 gal cooler tun, and not enough time to do it all.

I agree. $600 is too much for something like this, but it is a cool idea for a DIY project.

I came across this, and was wondering if anyone has seen or used it yet. It's called BeerTherm,
and it's a heating and cooling fermentation chamber.

I would think the gas should be fine (educated guess), but the tank probably needs to be hydro
    tested before it is refilled.

The Detroit Beer Co is a great one. They have lots of good brews. It's right near Comerica and
a People Mover stop (don't remember which stop though).

It's too late to measure the actual alcohol content. The only thing you can do now is estimate
the OG based on what you put in to the brew and measure the FG when it's finished fermenting.

So it says I need 2 vials and a 1.17L starter for 7.5g batch at OG of 1.070. Do I really need 2
vials or can I feed the yeast to make it work for a 7.5g batch at 1.070 OG?If you slide the
