I understand it's the same unit and you can get the metal gears as a replacement part from LEM.

Ordered the 15# Grizzly the other day. KitchenAid was just not doing it. Too much effort and
meat texture too mushy.

To answer some questions. I'm using BeerSmith, batch sparge, used both a refractometer and
hydrometer. 2nd batch was the first time I used refractometer so I checked against hydrometer.

I'm into my second AG brew and will start my 3rd in the next couple of weeks. First batch(black

This is one of my biggest reason I brew. Perfection is based on your rules. Change a recipe,
try a different yeast, ferment at different temps. If it tastes good, drink it.
