  • As I grew up, I was exposed to the world of great beers by a family friend who actually opened a microbrewery for a few years (Kross Brewing Co. in VT). He really educated me in the world of great beers. But for some reason, I didn't venture into home brewing until a few years ago when my older brother gave me a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas. Then a light bulb went on in my otherwise dull head and I realized, hey...maybe I can brew all the great beers that I buy. I brewed one extract batch, then dove into l grain bout the time I found HBT (coincidence?)
And I have been trying to brew great beers ever since.

A long time ago I bought a few plastic inline valves for my 3/8" tubing. They aren't barbed,
they just friction fit on. They work great for splitting the wort stream into multiple
    fermenters so they a...

I have a mead that has been fermenting in primary via lalbin 71b-1122 for only a week now. I
plan to eventually make it a raspberry melomel. Reading up on yeasts that are good for mead, I
    came across ...

  • Posted in thread: Heating & Cooling non-jacketed Conicals on 01-09-2015 at 06:48 AM
Since i have 2 conicals, I really think a chamber makes the most sense. I am looking into using
a 5k BTU ac unit, fermwraps and the black box to regulate. Anyone know if a 5k will cool a 40
    sf chamber...

I did more poking around, I think I am going to build something like this setup for temp
monitoring: the blackbox, I'm thinking that the fermwrap heater may work well for heating. I
    like the idea of...

I have two SS non-jacketed conicals that I want to heat and possibly cool independent of any
chamber. I found the black box ( Anyone have experience using heating blankets and/or a
    cooling method oth...

I am trying to figure out how to plumb my plate chiller and pump. I am using camlocks, but I
see that most pump/plate chiller people hard plumb the chiller and pump together. I guess then

Those look very nice. I built something similar last summer. Pump, PID, and SSR all integrated
to control a RIMS (which I've since gotten rid of) or a HERMS (what I currently use)I hope you

Well, my first attempt at making my PWM resulted in releasing the magic smoke from the IC. We
all know that once the smoke is out it's all over so it'll be off to RS from another one

  • Posted in thread: Blichmann vs morebeer conical on 01-16-2012 at 05:33 PM
I have the Blichmann 7 gallon. If I would do it over again, I may go to something that was
welded. It's one less thing to check. One thing that I thought I regretted, but now I'm glad I
    did was get th...
