  • I got into brewing as a dare from my wife about 13 years ago. She saw a Mr. Beer kit and said that I could not do that if I tried. Well the rest is history now. I used Mr. Beer for about 2 years and moved into a 5 gal setup. I am now brewing all grain now. No style or ingredient is safe with me. I like to push the envelope all the time and not just with my beers.

additional water after the completion of your 1 hour mash?I sparge on the fly with some runoff
    going bac...

I brewed my first AG batch and I must have done something wrong. In the past I have always

I am making an all grain Pumpkin this weekend and a friend of mine suggested using rice hulls
to prevent a stuck sparge. I get the reasoning behind this as it will help prevent clumping. I

  • Posted in thread: Sweet Stout 16A Question on 08-26-2015 at 05:16 PM
I brewed a sweet stout and I just opened a bottle and referring to the 2015 guidelines I feel
that I hit the mark on the aroma, appearance, flavor and mouth feel. I am a little concerned

My calculated SG was 1.062 and I was over that at a measured SG of 1.072 so while it will be a
little higher than calculated I cannot forget about the 1# lactose I put it so my FG will be

  • Posted in thread: Adding cherries to a Belgian extract kit on 07-29-2015 at 02:28 PM
I have not personally used juice in my beers but I have used canned Oregon cherries, both sweet
and tart. I usually puree them and add them to the secondary as the primary will ferment out
    the flavor ...
